Dentist

Lulu went to the dentist. What a way to spend a day off of school.

Admittedly, we have not been to the dentist in a few years. But, she does brush EVERY morning and EVERY night. Well, the joke is on mom this time! You see, Lulu has a tooth and part of it is missing and I thought that she broke her tooth because, literally, a chunk off the side of her tooth is torn away. Low and behold, it was a cavity that decayed her tooth until now part of it has disappeared! Can you believe it? I've never heard of such a thing. Here I am trying to explain to the doctor that part of Lulu's tooth broke and she is explaining to me that it is a cavity and was like, "huh? How can you tell?" I mean really, it looks like her tooth broke. Nonetheless, I didn't know that you can get cavities on the SIDE of your tooth. Eeee gads! Luckily, this tooth is on the brink of coming out on its own - thank goodness - and will not have to be extracted (a technical term). Except that we got this little tidbit of joy information AFTER Lulu started a never-ending flood from her stream of tears that she was so bravely trying to hold back. Poor baby! So, the tooth will fall out. However, she must, must, must floss in between her teeth every single night if she wants to prevent this from happening to other teeth. In her defense, this is not a tooth brushing issue, but a flossing issue. I had no idea that flossing was that important. I thought that it had something to do with plaque build up, but not cavities. Ugh!

On another note, they had a great toy for Bro to play with while he waited for Lulu to get her teeth cleaned.

Here is Lulu before getting the news about the cavity - see the smile!

Here she is wearing the cool celebrity-look-alike glasses that the kids get to wear to keep the glare out of their eyes. What will they think of next?

And look, I guess they had sympathy on my poor family and gave little Bro a baby toothbrush of his own, after he showed off his big boy teeth. The tooth brush is a teether/toothbrush all in one. Amazingly, he actually chewed on this toy for a whole hour before I snuck it away so that he could take a nap.

Coming soon... Lulu gets an "ortho consult" to look at her space in between her front teeth as well as to give me an update on the process and cost to correct the damage done by 10 years of sucking her thumb! Yeah - looking forward to THAT!
