Letter to myself at 18

Knowing what I know now, if I could write a letter to my younger self this is what it would say...

Dear M_______,

I'm so glad that you are reading this and are at such a great time in your life. I do have a few words of wisdom for you though.

First and most importantly, stop giving your mom such a hard time. She would move mountains for you and never even complain. She has been your biggest fan and will be the crutch that you will always be able to lean on. You will understand this someday when you have a daughter of your own (and you will) so just be a little kinder and all will work out.

Skip the fun and start studying. Before long you'll be a young mom and you will want to get that education out of the way so that you can concentrate on your little angel. Yes, she's coming!

Go to graduate school. You will want to spend more time at home with your children than a traditional job will allow and with the rising cost of living (homes, gas, and even food) you will need to have a two income family. Pick a major in a field that will allow you to work from home - I'm thinking computers or web building or something. At the very least get a teaching degree and spend your holidays and summers home with your children (yes, there will be more than one).

Don't worry about all of the boys that you'll meet in college. You've actually already met the man that you are going to marry and he isn't on the NCSU or UMCP campus - so don't even waste your time.

Elope.

Hug Uncle Gus... alot!

Save your money and use it to invest in AOL - when it comes around!

Have fun - it's gonna be a great ride!

Much Love,
nap mom
